In a move aimed at strengthening leadership capacity and boosting operational efficiency, the Federal Government has approved the promotion of 100 senior officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
The promotion, which was authorized by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, saw the elevation of 51 Deputy Corps Commanders to the rank of Corps Commander, and 49 Assistant Corps Commanders to Deputy Corps Commander. Described as a landmark development in the Corps’ human capital enhancement strategy, the exercise is part of ongoing reforms to reward excellence and reposition the agency for optimal service delivery.
Speaking on the approval granted on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the SGF expressed confidence in the process, commending the Corps for its merit-based and transparent promotion structure.
He lauded the Corps leadership for its objectivity and professionalism, urging the newly promoted officers to recommit themselves to the agency’s mission of ensuring safer roads and reducing crashes nationwide.
“This promotion is a clear indication of the current administration’s resolve to reward hard work, discipline, and outstanding performance in public service,” the SGF noted.
Also reacting to the development, the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, congratulated the newly promoted officers and charged them to see their new ranks as a call to greater responsibility.
He urged them to uphold discipline, integrity, and dedication in service to the nation. While encouraging those who did not make the promotion list, the Corps Marshal reassured them of the Corps’ commitment to fairness and inclusiveness in future exercises. “Remain focused, loyal, and dedicated,your efforts are not unnoticed,” he said.
Mohammed also reiterated the leadership’s drive to continually improve staff welfare and career development, urging all personnel to align with the Corps’ broader strategic vision and national safety goals.
The promotion is expected to further strengthen FRSC’s operational structure and enhance service delivery across the federation.
