Passengers aboard an Air Peace flight escaped unscathed after the aircraft briefly veered off the runway upon landing at the Port Harcourt International Airport on Sunday morning.
The flight, P47190, had departed from Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed Airport and was on its final approach when the incident occurred. According to a statement from the airline’s spokesperson, Mr. Ete Osifo-Whiskey, the aircraft “veered slightly” off the runway during touchdown but sustained no damage.
“All passengers disembarked safely, and there were no injuries reported,” Osifo-Whiskey confirmed.
Airport emergency response teams were immediately deployed, and the situation was swiftly brought under control. The aircraft was subsequently cleared from the runway, allowing airport operations to resume without disruption.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the runway excursion, though preliminary reports suggest weather conditions may have played a role.
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has been notified of the incident.
