The Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Mustapha Abdullahi, has expressed strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, highlighting it as a solid foundation for Nigeria’s transition to cleaner and more sustainable energy sources.
Abdullahi emphasized that the ECN is strategically positioned to champion this national energy transformation by driving investments in renewable energy solutions, including solar, wind, and biomass. According to him, reducing Nigeria’s dependency on fossil fuels is essential for achieving long-term energy security and economic diversification.
“The Renewed Hope Agenda provides the vision, and the ECN is committed to executing this through actionable investments in clean energy. Our focus is on practical solutions that will not only power homes and industries but also create jobs and stimulate rural development,” Abdullahi said.
He pointed to successful regional models such as Morocco and Kenya, where large-scale solar energy investments have led to significant progress in electrification, job creation, and economic growth.
Abdullahi reiterated the Commission’s readiness to collaborate with both local and international stakeholders to realize a greener future for Nigeria.
