Kogi State Governor, His Excellency Ahmed Usman Ododo, has lauded the Office of the Auditor General for Local Government for organizing a comprehensive induction course aimed at enhancing the capacity of local government officials across the state.

In a statement issued at the close of the three-day training, Governor Ododo commended the Auditor General for Local Government, Hon. Yakubu Siyaka Adabenege (popularly known as Fancy), for his foresight and dedication to strengthening local governance through strategic human capital development.

Describing the programme as a timely and strategic intervention, Governor Ododo noted that it aligns with his administration’s agenda to actualize full local government autonomy in Kogi State.

He pledged continued support for similar initiatives through increased budgetary allocations and enhanced inter-agency collaboration, emphasizing that the local government system remains central to his vision for grassroots development.

The induction course brought together key local government stakeholders, including chairmen and vice chairmen of the 21 local government areas, 303 ward legislators, treasurers, directors of local government, and financial officers. Participants engaged in sessions focused on accountability, legislative functions, public financial management, and the broader implications of local government autonomy.

Also in attendance was the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Folashade Arike Ayoade, who described the programme as a career-defining opportunity for the participants and praised the initiative’s impact on governance at the grassroots level.

The event concluded with a unanimous vote of confidence in Governor Ododo’s leadership, with participants urging him to sustain his transformational policies and continue beyond 2027.
