Governor Ododo Flags Off Induction of Local Government Officials on Autonomy

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, represented by the Auditor-General for Local Governments, Yakubu Siyaka Adabenege, has officially flagged off a three-day induction course for elected local government officials, top finance and administrative staff from the 21 local government areas in the state.

The programme, organized by the Office of the Auditor-General for Local Governments in collaboration with TIES and the 21 Local Government Councils of Kogi State, commenced today, April 28, 2025, at Reverton Hotel, Lokoja.

The event, themed “Emerging Challenges and Benefits of Local Government Autonomy in Nigeria,” attracted several dignitaries and key stakeholders committed to advancing the culture of transparency and accountability in local government administration in the state.

Yakubu Isiaka Adabenege, who also serves as the host of the event, emphasized the significance of equipping local government officials with the skills and knowledge necessary to harness the opportunities presented by local government autonomy.

The induction programme will run until Wednesday April 30, 2025.
