The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has launched a major leadership training programme for all patrol team leaders within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), in a move aimed at stamping out corruption, restoring public confidence, and raising the bar of professionalism on Nigerian roads. Approved by Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, the workshop is part of a wider reform strategy to reposition the FRSC as an institution anchored on discipline, civility, and service excellence. By focusing on the training of team leaders who engage directly with motorists, the Corps hopes to entrench a ripple effect of integrity and accountability across its operations nationwide. Declaring the session open in Abuja, the Corps Marshal charged patrol leaders to serve as “ambassadors of civility and integrity,” stressing that his administration would not tolerate lapses in discipline or acts of misconduct. He also directed that the programme be extended across all FRSC commands in the country to ensure uniformity in standards. “Every patrol team leader must be an ambassador of civility and integrity; anything less is unacceptable,” Mohammed warned. Also addressing participants, the Assistant Corps Marshal, Hyginus Omeje, reinforced the Corps’ zero-tolerance stance against corruption, cautioning that any officer found culpable would face swift sanctions. The Corps Public Education Officer, ACM Olusegun Ogungbemide, further urged participants to safeguard the organisation’s image while projecting professionalism at all times. According to the Corps, the training is not merely an academic exercise but a culture-shaping intervention designed to build a new cadre of officers who will lead by example, enforce discipline, and ensure safer highways for Nigerians.
