In a bold move to integrate digital convenience with public safety, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has unveiled its latest innovation,the FRSC Mobile App, a comprehensive platform designed to revolutionize how Nigerians interact with road safety services.
Speaking during the official announcement of the application, Assistant Corps Marshal Olusegun Ogungbemide, the Public Education Officer of the Corps, described the app as “a strategic intervention aimed at fostering accountability, enhancing national safety consciousness, and significantly reducing preventable road crashes across the country.”
“This is not just a mobile application ,it is a life-saving innovation built to make our roads safer, our services faster, and our engagement with the public more effective,” Ogungbemide stated.
The FRSC Mobile App, which is currently available for download on the Google Play Store, offers a suite of essential features such as driver’s licence renewal, vehicle and licence verification, real-time traffic alerts, black spot detection, and direct access to FRSC emergency services.
According to Ogungbemide, the app eliminates unnecessary delays by allowing users to renew their driver’s licences directly from their mobile devices, while also enabling the instant verification of number plates and licences, thereby curbing the proliferation of fake documents.
One of the app’s standout features is its real-time safety alert system which notifies users of speed limit violations, black spots, and accident-prone areas, allowing for safer and more informed travel planning.
Additionally, the mobile platform offers live streaming access to National Traffic Radio 107.1 FM, keeping road users updated with traffic conditions, safety campaigns, and emergency advisories on the go.
“We are leveraging technology to place safety in the palms of every Nigerian,” Ogungbemide said. “This innovation reduces bureaucratic bottlenecks and promotes smart, safe mobility in real-time.”
With built-in features for reporting road crashes, obstructions, and misconduct by FRSC personnel, the application ensures greater transparency, public engagement, and prompt emergency response.
Ogungbemide emphasized that the vision for the app was conceptualized under the leadership of the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, who has been driving a digital transformation agenda within the Corps.
“The FRSC under the current leadership is committed to using technology as a tool for national development. The Mobile App reflects our proactive stance on road safety, responsiveness, and citizen engagement,” he added.
He called on motorists, commuters, fleet managers, logistics operators, and the general public to download the app without delay.
“In today’s digital age, ignorance is no longer an excuse for unsafe road behavior or expired documentation. Your safety is your responsibility and now, it’s just a tap away,” Ogungbemide concluded.
