AFE BABALOLA SUPPORTS ARMING FRSC FOR ENHANCED HIGHWAY SECURITY

In a significant development that has added impetus to ongoing efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to reshape the nation’s road safety landscape, renowned legal luminary and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Aare Afe Babalola, has lent his unequivocal support to the Federal Road Safety Corps’ (FRSC) bid to bear arms.

This endorsement which comes as a boost to the Corps’ efforts to enhance its operational capabilities and effectively safeguard it’s installations and formations, was made in his office at the Afe Babalola University, during the visit of the newly posted Ekiti State Sector Commander, Corps Commander Sanya Adeoye.

According to the founder of the Afe Babalola University, ” I will not only continue to support road safety ideals, but will advocate for more secured working environment for the FRSC staff by lending support for the organisation to bear Arms for the protection of its formations and personnel. This is because, they must be fully secured to be able to discharge their duties professionally”.

The respected voice in the Nigerian legal community, emphasized the importance of arming FRSC personnel to ensure enhanced security and safety on the nation’s roads. He noted that the FRSC’s role extends beyond mere traffic management, requiring adequate equipment and training to handle potential security threats.

Reacting to the endorsement, the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed applauded the founder for objectively endorsing what he described as over due necessity. Adding that with Afe Babalola’s endorsement, just like those of other notable elder statesmen, he believes FRSC will be well-positioned to take its operations to the next level, ensuring safer roads for all Nigerians when the bill is passed and accented to by Mr. President.
