VP Shettima Urges Lawmakers to Prioritize Unity and National Progress at Presidential Iftar

Vice President Kashim Shettima has called on lawmakers to rise above division and partisanship, emphasizing that leadership is a sacred trust dedicated to nation-building. Speaking at an Iftar hosted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the House of Representatives, Shettima urged leaders to focus on unity, stability, and collaboration for Nigeria’s progress.

He highlighted the significance of Ramadan and Lent as periods of reflection and recommitment to national harmony. Reassuring Nigerians of the administration’s commitment, he stated that under President Tinubu’s vision, the economy has turned a corner, setting the stage for sustained growth and prosperity.

The Vice President also commended Speaker Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas and the House of Representatives for their generosity in donating ₦705 million from their salaries to support humanitarian efforts, describing it as a testament to their dedication to public service.

“As leaders, we must govern with empathy, fairness, and justice. History will judge us not by our words, but by the lasting impact we leave behind,” Shettima concluded.
