Katsina Governor Unveils Grassroots Initiative To Drive Community-Led Development

In a bold move to empower local communities and reshape the future of Katsina State, Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda has announced plans to establish Community Development Committees across all 34 local government areas of the state. This initiative aims to foster community-driven development by ensuring that residents have a direct voice in determining the priorities and projects
that will most benefit their areas. Governor Radda shared this vision during a meeting with the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Nasiru Yahya Daura, who led a delegation to welcome the Governor back from his one-month annual leave and a five day official visit to China. During this discussion, the Governor emphasized that these committees will be integral to his administration’s strategy of aligning government policies with the true needs and aspirations of the people.
In addition to the establishment of these committees, Governor Radda revealed plans to hold town hall meetings across the state’s three senatorial zones. These gatherings will serve as a vital platform for
relevant stakeholders—including state and federal legislators, as well as members of the opposition party—to voice their opinions and offer advice on governance.

This inclusive approach underscores the Governor’s commitment to ensuring that government decisions are informed by the perspectives of all segments of society. Highlighting the importance of
community involvement, Governor Radda called on all elected officials to actively engage with religious leaders, urging them to lead prayers for the restoration of peace in Katsina. He also encouraged
officials to adopt a more modest lifestyle and to maintain close contact with their constituents, particularly in light of the current economic challenges facing the nation.
Earlier in the meeting, Speaker Hon. Nasiru Yahya Daura praised the leadership displayed by the Deputy Governor during recent nationwide protests, acknowledging the significant security challenges that the state continues to face. He reaffirmed the State House of Assembly’s unwavering support in
tackling these issues, stressing the need for continued collaboration between the legislative and executive arms of government.
This new initiative, spearheaded by Governor Radda, represents a significant step towards grassroots empowerment and community-led development in Katsina State. As these committees take shape, they are expected to play a crucial role in driving meaningful change and ensuring that the voices of local communities are at the forefront of the state’s development agenda.
